Diaries of a Home Gym

You may or may not have gathered that I'm not a huge fan of the gym; if I do go, I like to go with a plan! I 'slummed it at the gym' in August and any time I have been since is not even memorable!

I do however have a wealth of fitness stuff right in the comfort of my own home! This includes, and is not limited to, my Wii (& wii fit), medicine balls, dumbbells, BOSU, yoga mats, Nike Training Club app, Ministry of Sound Pump it Up DVD's, Pole, mini trampoline (which I need to give away if anybody wants it?!) and resistance bands!

I enjoy working out at home for the privacy, convenience, and also the fact I can choose my own music! I dream of one day having a home big enough to have a room dedicated to fitness...A girl can dream right?!

I don't think I'm that far off making this a reality though! Check out this treadmill you can get from Next for £375 (I equate this to 3 or 4 months worth of a gym membership! Get it?!) or if you're not a fan of running, their X trainer costs £99!

My dream pieces of equipment for my home would be a rowing machine and a SPINNING pole which I'm a little in love with after trying it out in Week 5 of my last Pole course! ...and check out the workout below; it's a 40 minute treadmill hike workout from fitsugar which I'll be trying out when I next hit the gym ;) Let me know what you think if you try it too!

What equipment do you, or would you like to have at home? Or do you prefer getting at it, at the gym?!

  1. I hear you Elle, between busy schedules and inclement weather, home exercise equipment is a must. My recently purchase NordicTrack E7.1 Elliptical & Nike TR1's takes care of the core aerobics while a small Weider Pro multi-station weight bench & Ab Roller allows me to keep toned. A rowing machine would be nice as well, which one do you have your eye on right now?
What does the Spinning Pole work differently compared to a Stationary Pole when it comes to muscle groups used?

    1. Hey Billy, sounds like you have it all under control! I can't remember the brand of rowing machine I want, but its the same one as they have in a lot of gyms :) prob really expensive but it'll be an investment ;)
Ahhhh the spinning pole is not really different to the static; I think it's just used for specific moves which require or look good spinning! I figured it would be less dance and more strength!

  2. I've never been a fan of the gym atmosphere. I do better and get much better workouts in my home gym. It saves time and money...what could be better?
